Wait. Wait. Don’t get your hopes up and your pants down. This isn’t what you are thinking. This is just another nice pointer for you guys out there that are just starting out in this industry and don’t know how much it sucks when people give you a change in your ad or a job just by talking and proceed to fuck you ten times over for not doing it right.
Oral changes or oral jobs suck. Hard and long. I hate them and prefer not to do anything if it’s not on paper. And it applies to anything and everyone. Even your mother.
You see, people think they tell you stuff and proceed to forget it. It is like the Indian theory. If you like to try it, go right ahead. Tell one dude in your office a story and tell him to pass it around instantly to another person. Soon enough you’ll hear your story so changed maybe you won’t even recognize it.
Changes or jobs made by a conversation are the kiss of death. You can’t trust either the person who tells you what to do or even you – hearing and listening are very different things, and you might not be in either mood that day.

Oh so so so true... Recent experiences have won some people at my job the wonderful thing that is getting on my bad side. This means no more phone-to-screen changes. Uh uh... You play nice and we'll do the fandango.... you play dirty and I'll hit you in the balls or ovaries. Either way, it's a mean left hook you're gonna get. If they want oral changes, they can give me oral compensation, because for all the good deeds and positive vibrations one does on a constant basis, you think and thank you would be in order... seems I'm in the wrong dimension.
I had to nip this in the bud with my boss awhile back. We would do the "I don't you to do that", "No you did NOT" dance on several occasions, where no matter where I knew I was 100% right, I just could not win. So I requested everything in writing. Know what I got? Illegible scribbles on post-it notes... Nice...
Oops - that's supposed to be "I told you to do that" "No you did NOT" dance... Going to get more coffee...
and the crappy thing is... if you don't get it in writing, you are so screwed. Wordt, they think you don't trust them and get mad at you for asking to put it in writing.
I've met some forgetful people in my life. Damn. It is scary.
Damn. I tried to write worst. Going to get coffee too.
