The Eleventh Commandment

Is this too much to ask for? Is it too complicated to have people be honest with you? Is telling you when you've done something well just as hard as telling you when you've messed up? Apparently so.

Honesty is pretty much not valued here and bosses and employees alike can't seem to get in touch with their inner righteous selves. Everyone says that they wish they could truly be honest and have people be honest with them, but to what extent is this a mere ploy to make people believe that there is actually some sense of democracy within the scheme of things?

If you needed it cleared up, trust in that there isn't an appreciation for the observations of the middle low class of an ad agency. It's good that you have an opinion, but as with weddings when they ask if anyone should have an objection, just bite your tongue. Higher-ups will project themselves to be understanding and up for listening to every one who has something that he or she has to share..... bullshit, and please don't insist on proving me wrong, because in 4 out of 5 agencies, this is the truth. Tried and true methods of controlling the worker bees shall not change and faking empathy is a definite classic scenario, especially in advertising.

I'll stop if you've never heard one of these phrases:

"My office is always open for anyone."
"You can always call my office."
"I care about what each and everyone of you has to say."
"We have to pull together to overcome these bad times."

Can't you see the high school coach in most every associated vice president in a company? Are you truly fooled by the false sense of security they so halfassedly bestow upon each department? Something tells me that you don't buy the bullshit. So why do people insist on using these "tactics" to control its working force? Well like some of the worlds most famous predators, sometimes evolution is not necessary, just look for a more convenient habitat to adapt more easily to. In advertising that translates into exploiting your workforce until they learn to be wiser... then fire them because knowledge, rebellion and a sense of self respect are all contagious ... and heaven knows those three aspects could spell doom for a company that insists on not following the 11th commandment.
