I've always liked Michael J. Fox. I've laughed with him and some of my fondest eighties movie moments are thanks to him.
This message however, is the clear statement of a soul determined to make a difference. A difference that could have saved my father who passed away from cancer, of a dear family friend who succumbed to Parkinson and of millions of people who die every day because of a system that insists on treatment rather than cure, and because of politicians blocking something they have deemed immoral.
You know what I think is immoral, Not giving everyone quality of life. Charging for healthcare, supporting a justice system that insists on comparing attorneys rather than finding the truth and maintaining justice. I think it amoral to ban a taco stand just because a particular type of beaner nigger annoys you. I think it amoral to harass a woman. I think it amoral to hire people based on gender and race needs rather than qualifications. I think it amoral to be a bigot. I think it amoral to spend billions of dollars in a space program rather than helping those in need on this Earth. I think it amoral to not help out those in need. I think it amoral to have a political system we can’t trust in more often than naught. I think it amoral to go to war on false premises. I think it immoral to purposely buy stock in a company that happens to produce the bird flu vaccine for the bird flu that either doesn’t exist, or has been created as a biological weapon.
But I do NOT think it amoral to perform stem cell research. And I don’t think it amoral to keep the hope.
