Meme-inspired adverts

Is this the new trend or is this just a chance happening. I can't say I know for sure but I can say that I'm curious as to how much Tay earned for the rights to the song and the exposure and how effective this was in helping to launch the new Dr. Pepper flavor. What do y'all think?
