Diary of an Intern Day 4

Day 4 Week 1

Today was another activityless day and I couldn't handle looking at Steve make saliva bubbles, Jerry making top ten lists of who he's going to bone and Robert's corner one man brain storming that didn't include any of us, because he wanted to work on something before showing us. I starting walking around the agency even though we were told that someone would come by to give us some things to do. Didn't happen or I wasn't about to wait to find out. Bumped into the AE we met on the first day, Rick, and he said that if I wanted to help he had some stuff I could do. He says he's been overworked and hasn't been able to do something called clippings and I said it was ok and that I could help him. Three hours later and ashen fingernails abroad, I finished the first of seven piles of clippings from January. Doing clippings pretty much involves looking over every single page of a newspaper to look for ads of your brand or related to it. Then organizing it. Then filing it. It sounds it important. Even when I write it, it seems like something that might make a difference, but I don't see the point to it except to hold off recycling a few more years. I finally get back to the little room where they keep us locked in and there's Steve, still making saliva bubbles, Jerry is debating whether he'll bang the media chick or the account hottie first and Robert is nowhere to be found. The guys said he was writing in his designer notebook and went out running when he saw an ACD had walked past the room. Thanks for sharing. Lunch was stupid, my sandwich tasted like newspaper ink, everyone was busy and every creative had something else to do, but they'd get back to me. Great. I walked a bit after lunch and bought a notebook, if Robert can do it, I can do it too. Anyways, not the best of days, but hey... some days are off days right?
