I asked and she said yes

It's amazing the amount of things I've lived through the last couple of weeks. How much has changed in so little time. In about 6 weeks' tim, I've gotten a new job, bought a new car, found my first gray hair and proposed to my darling Mrs. Joker.

Some people might say that I've waited too long for this or that I rushed it, but if anything I'm sure of, it's that I chose the perfect day to make my girlfriend go on a ridiculous scavenger hunt that had her going from her house, to mine, to a downtown Starbucks, to a PO Box to meet me by the beach. Some people say that getting engaged is a risk and I took this to heart, risking that any of the 16 steps I gave her to follow could have been messed up. Hell it was even raining that day. But guess what? no one took the letters or clues I'd left in public places. None of us crashed our cars. No one robbed me and right before she got to the beach, the sun was allowed to make a marvelous cameo and shine brightly down upon two kids in love.

I've heard reactions from protocolary congratulations, to enthusiastic congrats, to skepticism and negativity and you know what, I welcome all of it because I think it shows how some people are and the relationship they have with you when you see how they react to you saying you're getting married. And though all of this is all fun and games, there's one thing that totally eclipses any reaction I've gotten and that's my experience with the scavenger hunt and the ellation in Mrs. Jokers eyes the moment she saw that I wasn't pulling her chain and leading her on a wild goose chase.

That single moment is mine to keep though my joy, my satisfaction and my happiness I share with anyone who reads this post. My best to all of you and who knows, I just might be writing a lot more about this in the coming weeks and months. But for now...

With much love,

Cheers

Nice, bro.

Job, car, love - not necessarily in that order I trust

This may come off as a "protocolary congratulation", but... CONGRATS! My best wishes to you both.

Congrats to you both! What a lovely idea!

My other half proposed between the bathroom and kitchen at home, while the pasta water was boiling. At least we met in Pere Lachaise in Paris so I have a romantic story to tell...

@ Kelly: Trust me, I took a bunch of risks, but it was worth it since in the end, everything came out perfectly. I'm still in shock as to how lucky I was.

@ Jet: Very correct that it isn't in that order hahaha. But thanks regardless man. Hell of a way to finish a year and start a new one.

@ Restrictions: Nothing you say is protocolary my brother. Many thanks. :D

@ Me: Many thanks sweet one. I definitely don't think I could even design a better mate. I'm definitely one lucky mofo.

@ Shaun: Thanks man.

@ Teenie: Now I'm also curious as to your story. Feel free to email me if you don't want everyone to read lol. :D

@ My sweet Broad: Funny, it wasn't the hair since I didn't know about it when I was planning this, but maybe I'd realized it internally without even knowing it lol. Regardless, thanks for the congrats dear. I need to get up to speed with my blogs, but the house comp is on the fritz. Fret not though, I'll be by very soon to play catchup lol. Much love.

@ Stewbie: Many thanks as well. People keep looking at me and being confused. I guess most people aren't used to see a guy happy to be engaged hahaha.

Cheers to all.

I never tire of telling the story! :) I was on vacation and he was in Paris visiting a friend. We crossed in the cemetery and he asked me where a certain grave was, and I said I was just heading to the same place. So we got to talking and, after 5 years of back and forth, we finally tied the knot in September.

Paris has a special place in my heart. It's not a cliché--it really is that romantic.

Congrats again!
